Jakarta/Bandung Trip

It’s been far too long since I updated with anything useful. In fact the verdict’s still out if I ever done so. Anyways, I went to Indonesia last week, so here’s the obligatory cerita.

First things first. I seem to be having a problem with Blogger so I can’t upload any photos. Not to say I have that many photos to begin with (It’ll make sense later below).

As it should be known I flew there partly because my swimming hasn’t been up to par lately. According to the itinerary I was to take a KLM Royal Dutch flight.

The flight took 1½ hours of awesomeness. The KLM entertainment was great even in economy cause they had all the latest movie and music and shizz. Plus I also had Douglas Adam’s “The Restaurant at the Edge of the Universe” (the H2G2 sequel) to read.

Segway to Indonesia,

So after Immigrations, we went on our pre-arranged tour bus (or Bis Pariwisata as the locals say)

Remember the book I told you about earlier? It came in handy again because jams in Jakarta are a serious problem. This is not necessarily because there are lotsa cars but because the driver’s here are bat-shit insane.

So after the jam, we ate at this Ikan Bakar place called “Ikan Nakar Cianjur”

The food was awesome

It also gave me the appoutunity to take ultra kiasu macro-shots

So after food, we went to our Hotel for the night. Hotel Alia (Of couse)

So we checked in while I surfed the f.o.c internets they have there.

Personally I thought the hotel was rather dodgy. My assumptions were proven correct later that night when I went to reception to charge my phone/camera (they only use two pin plugs there wtf?). On my way back to the lift, this conversation happened:

Enters lift. *Doors close*

Guy : How are you?

Me : (wtf? Teruknya English) I’m fine…

Guy : Where are you from?

Me : Malaysia

Guy : (Probably thinking “thank GOD!”) Oh, Malaysia? Kenapa datang ke sini?

Me : Uhhh… melancong.

Guy : Tak mahu cari wanita? *creepy voice*

Me : (ohmygodohmygodohmygod) uhh… no. (trying to stall) blablabla… Bak-bak- bak-bakaaaak!

*elevator doors open. Run*

Next morning, post-pimp experience, we checked out. It was later I discovered that moron at reception didn’t even charge my camera properly. To complex to see when the red light on the charger stop blinking izzit? So, with limited juice, we proceeded to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. Basically it’s like that Mini Malaysia in Melaka except way bigger and awesome-er.

It was so big in fact that we had to take a skylift where so we could see the whole park

After that, we went to this mosque for mid-day prayers.

A little info, it was designed by a Protestant. That’s right, a NON-MUSLIM designed it. In fact it’s just opposite a world-heritage cathedral. Folks, that’s not just Sivik-text-book toleransi, that’s called embracing others. Also it is also the biggest mosque is SEA. I aptly, I named it mosque-zilla. No pictures though but here’s a link.

Funnily enough, all the Malaysians were segregated from the Indonesian during the prayers. Why ah?

So after prayers, we went to this volcano.

It was awesome. I bought this “Kayu Batik” thingy which I thought was awesome cause the inside’s like batik. No paint one!

A reminder though, if you want to buy this, buy either the syelek-ed ones or open them as soon as you get home because they will grow mold.

After the volcano, we shopped for the remainder of the trip.

That's it I guess since can't upload photos or flail my hand like a retard to express the story in a semi entertaining way.

Goodbye

Today is the final day of January and my 4th post of this month. I wanted to post something about my trip to Penang but sorting and uploading the pics became too much of a hassle so I got lazy. Instead I will talk about general nonsense principally writen in a non-coherent way. In short, the same crap you'll see if you click on the older posts button.

Yesterday I saw Michael Bay's Transformers. AGAIN!

Since it's relase in the summer two years ago I have witnessed many, many, many men drool over the lead actress, Megan Fox. So the point of my entry today is to shine a beacon of light upon this blatant barbaranism. A truth that has eluded these heathens for far too long.

You see readers, the truth is that the lesser known actor Rachael Taylor is far supperior to Megan Fox.

Now I know this truth may be a bit extreme to some. So extreme in fact that a few may be compeled to chalenge it. So I shall now explain why you fools are clearly wrong.

Reason #1

'nuff said

Reason #2

Maggie (Rachael Taylor's character) plays an analyst whereas Mickaela (Megan Fox) is just an average High School student and "an evil jock-concubine". So by taking into acount this simple funtion it is clear that Maggie is superior.

Reason #3

Be-awesome Tasmanian accent.

Conclusion?

Optimus prime kicks all the humanoid characters asses

This is a custom 1940’s Ford

If this car were 64 times bigger I would be obliged to show you another pic of me in cam-whore mode pretending I’m driving it.

By now most of you non-existent readers should be asking why am I posting a picture of my toy car. The answer is simple. This car is among other a replica of an actual hot-rod made by this man

This is usually the point where I link to a Wikipedia entry for those still in the dark but there are none so here a short explanation:

This man is Vinnie a.k.a Big Daddy. He is a hot-rod builder. He had a show on
Discovery Real Time (now Discovery Turbo) back in the day called “The
Kustomizer” which is either intentionally misled for added kool-ness or he
wanted to show his Armenian heritage. Some of his more famous work is the
Helicopter Bus and a Mini Cooper with two heads.

Recently, Big Daddy and his crew came to Malaysia for this

Here’s a little snippet from the official website to show you what it’s all about.

The Main Sponsor of The Xtreme International Autoshow is Tourism Malaysia.
Xtreme International Autoshow is a bold and ambitious project which aims to
promote new standards of car modification in our country and create an Annual
Malaysian Motor Show on par with other internationally renowned motor shows such
as SEMA Las Vegas, Essen Motor Show, Germany and the Geneva International Motor
Shows which draw local and international visitors by the thousands every
year.

One of the key differences of our show from other motor shows is that our
show features extreme modified vehicles and customized vehicles that have been
altered and upgraded from their OEM form.

Objectives:

•To be an annual event that attracts thousands of car fans locally and
internationally just like Formula 1
•To make Malaysia a hotspot to showcase
automobile manufacturers’ latest designs, concept cars and modified/custom cars
from all over the world
•To make Malaysia a hotspot to showcase the latest
after market car/bike accessories and technology
•To be the first ever
National Level Modified Car Competition; recognized and endorsed by all relevant
authorities and the motoring community
•To be the largest annual gathering
of custom modified cars in Asia

So in essence it’s a car show with a difference which for the uninitiated means this:

Enough subs, mids and tweeters to deafen you and the next three generations of your family.
After paying the RM28 necessary to enter (A portion of it goes to charity) I was given a car sticker (Sorry, no pics)
A contest form with makes me allegible to win some sorta holiday (I think)

And surprisingly... A ticket

I arrived at around 3-ish had about an hour before anything really happened so I decided to look around. The amount of custom cars here are simply amazing and they came from all around too. Take for example the “Jakarta Monster” an Isuzu Trooper modified to resemble a Hummer H2

There was also the “Bangkok Demon”. Don’t let the average styling* fool you though. This is probably the loudest car in the entire floor. Even I had to close my ears to catch these pics

Here’s the rest of the “Bangkok Demon” crew

There were also some local heroes like “Pink Lady”

“Giler Blaster”

And “Mr. Alien”

There were also booths like this Tom’s sticker wrap-around Audi TT (I was too late to catch the Wrap-around :-( )

This air-brush demo by Jazz Airbrush:

And this Diamond Zeus booth which really caught my attention

Diamond Zeus is basically an ultra-high end custom shop and the cars in showed on display were Ridiculously opulent

On the competition side were 3 categories namely Open Xtreme, Proton Xtreme and K-car Xtreme
There were a few crazies there too. Like this Proton Satria

And this one called “Kereta Ganazzz” which originally was a Perodua Kancil

In fact I loved almost every car on the show. Almost was the key word there and the exception has to be this one

Personally it was way too loud even for ridiculous show car standard. I can almost imagine the driver of this car being one of those Ah Beng with neon hair like these

But back to the show. It was six-ish and still nothing was going on which probably is my only beef with the show. It didn’t keep to the schedule (or maybe I just couldn’t find it which makes bad placement the reason to blame). In fact I was readying myself for a bad review when they came
from right: Wax Daddy, Jasmin, Big Daddy and some random show model

Media attention was crazy but nobody seemed to dare take a picture with him. So, I politely asked. He obliged. I even got that mock dollar above.

Soon after the Ministry of Tourism arrived

It was then that this event was finally picking up. To get a better view I pretended to be media. Being a blogger and all technically I was albeit the alternative kind. First off the fashion show (Which were all purchasable and will go to charity)

Next, Wax Daddy sang “My Way”

The performance was actually pretty good. Didn’t know the guy could sing (Sorry couldn’t get a video though, my camera’s mic is shit). Next on the line was the obligatory speech by Dato’ Seri Azalina.

Bla…bla…bla… Then, we headed the “Hell Pit” for some good ol’ BBQ Volvo

Yes folks a Kia Carnival is doing the BBQ-ing but then again this car has been modified to strip the whole soccer-mom appeal right the hell out of it

Conclusion: This is an awesome show

*average of course being by the ridiculous show car standard
